Johanne

Had a great photoshoot in Tromsø this week. Johanne is a medical student and a great friend. We did a photoshoot in late evening, as Tromsø is in the part of Norway that has midnightsun this time of year.

A few different scenarios.

First photo is taken with a single flash from camera left.  Used a umbrella to soften light.

Second photo is taken with a bare flash at half power. Edited in Lightroom.

Third pic is also with bare flash. Just 1/16 power, and also tried to get a low aperture.

Thank´s to Johanne!

Susanne

Susanne Buckenlei is a german pro triathlete. Last year she won the hardest triathlon in the world, Norseman Xtreme Triathlon. I had the pleasure of having a photoshoot with her a few days before the race. She is racing again this year, defending her title. These two pics are with a simple setup. One flash through a softbox, triggered wireless with Cybersyncs. A few more pics of Susanne and the race here

Edit 9 aug : Susanne did win the race again!

Gearing up for Norseman!

It´s one of my favorite times of the year. Going back to Eidfjord, to be a part of the organization comitee of the hardest triathlon in the world, Norseman Xtreme Triathlon! My main job at the Norseman, is as chief of the medical crew. But if time, I will also make some photographs. So watch the next couple of days, there will be som new photos!

These are some of my photos from last year.

Climbing – training rope rescue

Today I had a very nice day! A few friends of mine, from the local ambulance service, invited me to join for some climbing outside town. I taught them some rope rescue techniques while there. We hade a realy great time, climbing, joking and barbeque in the mountains!

Summer in Stavern

Enjoying summertime in my hometown Stavern. Lot´s of people in town. I use my vacation to train, relax and make pictures. Here are a few pictures wich is done by the HDR technique. Means that five exposure of the same subject with different settings is merged into one photo. To see more of my Stavern pictures, go to this page Feel free to leave a comment!

Alexandra

Did a photoshoot in Stavern today with Alexandra. Testing different one-light setups. Just using the sun, and one single flash through a westcott 28″ softbox. Just one flash is not enough when shooting into bright sunlight. I have to get a bigger light, or using two or three flashes bundeled together. Had to test various scenarios with just the one flash (Vivitar 285). Both in bright sunlight as well as in the forrest. The forrest turned out the easiest, as the bright sunlight was shining softly through the threes. And Alexandra was a perfect model!

Ironman Triathlon European Championship

I attended Ironman Frankfurt as an accreditated photographer this weekend. Lots of great athletes and a spectacular and supporting crowd!

Ironman Triathlon is a very hard and enduring sport event. The athletes first swim 3800 meters, then 180 km on the bike only to finish with a 42km run. The weather in Frankfurt was very varm this weekend, with temperatures well above 30 degrees celcius!

Fanny

Just did a workshop with the Danish photographer Nicolai Brix at Nes Verk outside Tvedestrand. The theme was creative use of flash, and I did learn a lot. Betwen one and three flashes used both indoors and outdoors. Fanny was one of the models, and she did such a great job!

Here are a few pics

One flash through Westcott Apollo 28″ softbox camera left, lying on the ground. One flash camera right, behind modell pointed at the wall.

Three flash setup. One Sb24 at 1/2 power in Westcott Apollo 28″ softbox in front of camera. Two Vivitar 285 at 1/8 power on each side behind model.

Sun directly behind model, one flash through softbox from camera left.

Swimmer Photoshoot

Another pic from an earlier photoshoot. This is done with a Westcott Softbox camera right with a SB24 strobe. Edited to Black and White in Lightroom, with a little bit of saturation. I think it turned out well!

Hoppestad Triathlon

Hoppestad is a place outside Skien. The Hoppestad triatlon is a very charming training competition that is arranged every 14´th day by my good friend Haarek during spring and summer. Just for fun and training. I was suposed to start myself yesterday. But training heavy squats and deadlift earlier the same day, made me deside to be a photographer at yesterdays race. Water a bit to cold yet, so it was a duathlon. Running, cycling, running. Heavy rain during the race, made som incredible skies! More pics here.

Pics made by off camera flash. A handheld SB600 at half power, camera in manual mode
