The background is a picture from Flickr of a Turkish bath

Foreground, the picture of Maria, is a one light setup. Done inside a narrow hotelroom. A Nikon flash inside a white shoot through umbrella. The umbrella is placed on the right side of the camera, and very close. Moving the light source as close as possible to the subject, gives a pleasent light in the models face.

The two photos are merged together in Photoshop CS4. Using the technique of Joel Grimes.

This picture is from Bodø. Shoot at ISO 640 with a Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 10-20 mm. 15 seconds of exposure and a aperture of 4.3. You can see a few other shoots here.

Picture is taken with a Nikon D50. A very simple digital camera.  And a handheld flash. Both camera and flash in manual mode. The skies is natural. Not edited at all. The sun is raising, it is early morning. Beautiful colours as the sun starts to shine through the mountains. The place is Eidfjord at the western part of Norway.

The athletes is comming out of the water, after a 3800 meter swim. About an hour earlier, this athlete has jumped out of a ferry into an icecold and deep fjord. It is about a five meter jump and everything is completely dark. When the athletes is close to the exit ot the swim, they can see the first sign of the sun. I have been working as a medical officer on race for a few years.

«Norseman is the world’s toughest long-distance distance triathlon. It is also the most northern, taking place at the same latitude as Anchorage in Alaska. The race is a travel through some of the most beautiful parts of Norway. It is not a normal circuit-race as it starts in a fjord and finishes at mountain Gaustatoppen at 1,850 meters above sea level. Total ascent is 5,000 meters. The water temperature is normally about 15.5 degrees C, and the air temperature normally ranges from 6 to 28 degrees C through the race day. The first about 160 participants are expected to be allowed to finish at the top of the mountain. The others are allowed to finish at the mountain plateau.»

The race is 3800m svimming, 180km on the bike and 42km running.

Hans and his girlfriend Susanne visited me in Stavern on their way to Eidfjord. Susanne was going there to race the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon the 6th of august. Had a photoshoot of them both around Stavern. Bright sunlight forced me to do some photoshoots in the shadows or using powerfull flash.

Three flash setup. Two Vivitar 285´s on the background. Wich is my living room wall. It is not entirely white, rather a little blue. But with high power blast from the flashes it turns out white.

In front and from camera left, one Nikon SB24 through Apollo 28″ Softbox.

My new D7000 was briliant for this type of work, used a 85mm F1.8 on that one. I also used my old D200 with a 10-20mm, getting a few cool close up shoots.No flash this time. Just minor editing in Lightroom.

All pictures with one or two flashes. Heavy sunlight forced me to use two flashes on some pictures.

At a recent trainingcamp at Playitas at the Island of Fuerteventura I had a photoshoot with her. Strong sun so we had to wait until the evening. Used on and two flashes. Some editing in Lightroom.

First picture is a three flash setup. One SB24 through softbox in front, and two Vivitar 285 from each side from behind. Edited to Black and White in PS Lightroom 3.0

Second picture is just one flash right in front of rider. SB24 through softbox
